Arriving in the UK: One night in London

For those of you who don't know me but are reading this I was lucky enough to be accepted into the University of Oxford. I left my home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, September 10th and arrived at London Heathrow September 11th. Being a bit of a taller person the flight was really hard on my legs even though my mom and I splurged and got Economy Comfort seats.

We stayed one night in London at The Columbia Hotel. We chose all of our hotels on this pre-Lynn-going-to-school-trip by how the front looked.

The outside looked wonderful, but the inside was alright. Our toilet didn't always work, but I thought that was okay because it had beds. The Columbia is situated right across the street from the Kensington Gardens which was wonderful. After we arrived at the hotel at 3pm we decided to try to stay awake and wandered around the Gardens for a couple of hours. It was so pretty and green! The one thing we laughed at was that there were so many Canadian Geese there. I knew they were a pest everywhere, but I didn't think it was that bad! We ate supper at the cafe at Kensington Palace and then slept for 13 hours! I don't think I've slept that long ever!

The next morning we wandered around the Gardens a bit more before catching the train to Cardiff from Paddington Station in London. One thing I have already fallen in love with here is the train system. It's so nice and easy to use. Sure, it doesn't get me all the places I want to go, but it's much better then anything I've experienced before!
